Reverends Mary Beth and Michael Speer

Revs. Mary Beth and Michael share a strong devotion to teaching the many facets of the Science of Mind, combining metaphysical theories with experiential application. By applying spiritual principles to day to day challenges, they present a transformational approach which is relelvant, practical and applicable to all ages. Their message is presented in a straightforward manner: “Life is done unto us as we believe. All things are possible through God, and we can effect positive change in our lives by changing the way we think. Lives transform one thought at a time.”

Rev. Michael was born and raised in Chicago and studied with Dr. Carlton Whitehead and Revs. Harriet and Christopher Smolka before heading to California, where he met Rev. Mary Beth. Rev. Mary Beth was born in Terre Haute, Ind., but grew up in Southern California, where her Science of Mind teachers included Rev. Helen Street and Dr. Arleen Bump. The Speers took their ministerial training together with Dr. Tom Costa in Palm Desert, Calif.

The Speers continue to live by a shared covenant that they wrote when they first agreed to become Religious Science ministers:
“As Husband and Wife, as Spiritual Partners, and as Co-Ministers of Religious Science, we dedicate ourselves to expressing God through all of our affairs, experiences, and relationships. We affirm that all life is God and all life is Good. Because of this, we accept that we are in harmony with every person and outpicturing in our lives. We are the creators of our experience. We express all the qualities of God through every thought and experience. We are well pleased, for we live our lives in Truth, and do not compromise Principle—not even for special occasions.”
